I’ve been recently … bemused, I guess is the word, by all the zealotry that’s arisen around “natives” vs “invasives”—of course you should plant our amazing natives but if you’re experiencing throes of guilt about your stargazer lilies then maybe relax a little?

Re: the pompoms, I have tiny pollinators all over my sea holly and rattlesnake master, so they clearly appeal to some types. You are right about the tradeoffs; humans so often destroy things in the service of creation, and it's all about getting the balance right.
I have spent a lot of time in the garden over my lifetime and you have captured some of my more recent ponderings. Lot of lessons learned.
